Passage ranking – February 2021

Google can use AI to index web pages and focus on specific paragraphs and sentences. This means that if the user query is answered correctly or your web page content is relevant specific section of that content can show up as a featured snippet.

Product Reviews — April 8, 2021

Google Product review was released to focus on thin reviews and spammy affiliates. Google was making sure and trying to track down poor quality product reviews which seemed fake and Spammy

Spam — June 23, 2021

Google announced another Search update, “spam update”. This was rolled out in two parts, focusing on the quality of sites and target sites with spammy tactics.

Page Experience — June 25, 2021

Google started rolling out the Page Experience Update on June 25th, announcing that the rollout would continue through August 2021. This update included Core Web Vitals and impacted both organic results. This update is also known as mobile-first, where Google wants websites to perform well on mobile devices and create a better user experience.

Link Spam – July 2021

This update targeted sites with spammy link methods.

Page Title Rewrites — August 2021

Many SEOs began to notice a substantial increase in Google rewriting page titles in SERPs. Google automated page titles that they thought were more relevant to user queries, but after many complaints due to ranking dropping and changing, Google scaled back some of the changes in September.

Spam – November 2021

Google announced another broad spam update. Unlike the July update, Google did not specifically call this a “link spam” Google did not provide much detail about this update.
