If you’re an ecommerce retailer, it’s likely that you use Pinterest as part of your social media marketing and probably, get traffic from it too. Following the arrival of myriad new tools for businesses last year, the social network is at it again with a series of brand new additions. This time around, the image-sharing site has gone back to basics by rolling out tools to make it easier to rearrange Pins, archive boards and organise sections.

Archive old boards

If you’ve been on Pinterest a while, you may find that you have an overwhelming number of boards, some of which could be outdated or no longer needed. Thanks to the new tools, you’ll now be able to archive boards that you are finished with. This feature will help to keep your profile clean and uncluttered. Pinterest says this will also help it ensure the recommendations and notifications it shows you are relevant.

Archiving is done directly from the board you no longer need. Simply click on it then hit the new archive button.

Reordering sections and Pins

This new feature is one that Pinterest users have long requested and means that you will be able to reorder Pins within a board. This is useful if you want to create categories or groups of images within a board – such as positioning all images relating to a particular product or service together. If you’re a food retailer with a board for sweets for example, you could create a category for your gluten free products, separate from regular products, but within the same board.

In the same way you can rearrange sections, you can also rearrange Pins – this is useful if you want a certain image next to another particular image. This works by drag and drop so you can move Pins to any position at any time very easily.

Other ways to organise your boards are also being deployed to make it easier for you (and your customers) to find pictures. These include the option to arrange boards alphabetically, by date created, by most recently updated or, by your own custom order.
